RDR Packaging Meets The Challenge Of The New Canadian Legislative Ban Of Single Use Plastics
Introducing GRIP FIX™
An environmentally friendly solution that stabilizes your products or pallet load without the need to use plastic wrap.
RDR Packaging once again rises to the occasion of meeting the new legislative ban on single use plastics. GRIP FIX™ stabilizes a pallet load without the need to use plastic wrap.
- checkout bags
- cutlery
- food service ware made from or containing “problematic plastics”
- ring carriers
- stir sticks
- straws
RDR is taking it one step further. We know that, in addition to these six categories of single-use plastics, tons of plastic wrap are also plugging landfill and are detrimental to the environment. And we’re doing something about it.
Working with one of the world’s leading experts on pallet shipping, we now offer GRIP FIX™, an environmentally friendly product that replaces plastic wrap.
Instead of using tons of plastic wrap – a process that plugs landfill and is detrimental to the environment, our eco-friendly and cost-effective solution works even better in stabilizing your pallet load.
Why GRIP FIX™ is superior to plastic wrap
GRIP FIX™ is a ground-breaking anti-skid control system that is cost-effective and eliminates the need for stretch wrapping and/or strapping your packaged goods on pallets – while at the same time keeping them secure from shifting, preventing damage, and contributing to employee safety.
GRIP FIX™
- leaves no residue
- is biodegradable
- is recyclable
- is non-toxic
- is water-soluble
Our introduction of GRIP FIX™ to the Canadian market will make a huge difference protecting the environment… a very serious issue today.
The plastics pollution crisis
In Ontario, Canadians throw away over 3 million tonnes of plastic waste every year. Only 9% is recycled while the rest ends up in our landfills, waste-to-energy facilities or the environment. This represents up to $8 billion per year in lost value and wastes valuable resources and energy.
About one-third of the plastics used in Canada are for single-use or short-lived products and packaging.
Every year, one million birds and over 100,000 sea mammals worldwide are injured or die when they mistake plastic for food or become entangled.
Globally, one garbage truckload of plastic waste enters the ocean every minute, and that amount is increasing steadily.
How Canada is tackling this problem
In 2019, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, announced:
“Canadians know first-hand the impacts of plastic pollution, and are tired of seeing their beaches, parks, streets, and shorelines littered with plastic waste. We have a responsibility to work with our partners to reduce plastic pollution, protect the environment, and create jobs and grow our economy. We owe it to our kids to keep the environment clean and safe for generations to come.”
